Inflammation –the good, bad, and ugly!

When there is an injury, insult, or invader, the body goes thru many defense mechanisms -- one of which is inflammation. Inflammation is a sign that more immune cells are getting to the area and can help restrict accessibility to something or help mobilize (i.e., an injured joint).

But when inflammation becomes chronic, it indicates the body’s in trouble and it has to go into protective mode to prevent further damage.

Unchecked inflammation is the basis of many diseases, such as: lupus; fibromyalgia; Type I diabetes; cancer; Alzheimer’s; arterial plaque build up. Symptoms of inflammation include swelling, redness, pain, and restricted circulation.
The newest buzzword is “inflammation”. Many believe it is the basis of all chronic diseases.
